Good morning everyone, happy Tuesday and Happy New Year!
Thank you for being with me again in this 2024. I appreciate you!
And what better way to start the new year than sharing a new Inside the Photo.
My guest today is an amazing photographer I’ve been following on LinkedIn. She’s Aurelia and her portraits are absolutely stunning.
Art, in all its expressions, has always caught my attention, however, Photography has always been the most special branch of them all, so much that I let myself to give up other disciplines to become a photographer.
Photography allows me to listen to my ideas and question what moves me, what I feel and what I am able to express, besides getting out of everyday's life and my comfort zone.
From the beginning of my career, I have focused on portraiture to capture the essence and energy of people, convey their story and inner message.
I am a portrait and fashion photographer for Mexican brands in Mexico City; while stamping my main imprint, I focus on helping commercial brands and people to generate images that help them show their values and achieve their goals.
I also enjoy making special photo projects as well as self-portraits that allow me to express myself by boosting my creativity to show the world what I have to say and the way I see things.
Since photography is a means of expression, I want to achieve meaningful images that provoke a reaction and social contribution.
To have a better idea of how high the quality of her work is, you only need to have a look at her website and IG. The images are just perfect, always classy and spot on. And, as she said, you can also find her personal projects, which are as well high-end and deep in the meaning.
The image I chose to share with you is a self-portrait, and I took this photo to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (November 25th).
I captured this image in 2020 when I realized that domestic violence had increased during the pandemic. I have been using this photo to represent a personal project I am working on, addressing this crucial topic. As a woman who has experienced psychological abuse and sexual harassment, it holds significant meaning for me to use my photography as a tool to express my own experiences and help me heal. Moreover, it serves as a means to empower other women facing similar situations, encouraging them to raise their voices and contribute to a change in our society.
This project is still a work in progress, but I hope I can make it stronger soon.
I just read this quote in Spanish: "El Vuelo de las mariposas: Cuando sientas que ya no es tu lugar, vuela"
Meaning: "The flight of the butterflies: When you feel that it's no longer your place, fly"
I so much love this image, the message and the project it is part of are so important they should be shouted out loud.
Here you go, I recommend you check her out at the following links:
I can’t thank you enough, Aurelia, for being my guest today with such a powerful image and message.
Take care and talk soon!
